Build East Sussex, the initiative being delivered jointly by East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council, is aimed at developing the construction supply chain within the region by helping small and medium sized businesses in the construction industry to develop.
Build East Sussex’s objectives include:
- to stimulate the local economy
- to mitigate the effects of the recession on the local community
- to ensure the necessary skills and capacity are available within the region to deliver future public sector construction programmes
- to allow Council procurement to benefit the local economy - in particular local small and medium enterprises
- to provide an improved profile of the construction industry as a career opportunity
We are doing this by bringing construction clients in the public sector, main contractors and business support organisations together with small and medium sized businesses involved in the Built Environment.
At our Build East Sussex launch event held in January 2010, and at future workshops and through this Website, information is being provided on future construction opportunities and the criteria for the supply chain. This will show businesses in the construction sector what work is available and what they need to do to win it. Our partners in the business support organisations can help these businesses so that they are in a better position to bid for this work in the future.
